Quran Reminder — a Chrome browser extension. Last updated 2026-10-11.

What is stored

Everything is stored locally in your browser's own extension storage (chrome.storage.local), on your device only:

• Your settings — reminder interval, display mode, translation, reciter, theme, and so on.
• The page you last read, so the extension knows where to continue.
• A cache of Qur'an pages you have viewed (up to ~60), so re-reading a page does not need a new network request.

None of this is synced to any account, uploaded, or shared. Uninstalling the extension deletes all of it.

What is sent over the network

Two things, both direct requests from your browser to the named services — nothing passes through a server we run, because we do not run one:

• Qur'an page text and translations, requested from the free alquran.cloud API.
• Recitation audio, streamed from cdn.islamic.network when you choose to listen.

These requests carry only what is needed to fetch a page or a clip (a page number and an edition identifier). Like any web request, your IP address is visible to that server, the same as visiting any website. We do not add tracking parameters, analytics, or identifiers of our own.

What is not collected

No accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no cookies set by this extension, no personal information, no browsing history, and no data about which pages of the Qur'an you read is sent anywhere.

Permissions this extension requests, and why

• alarms — schedules your reminder at the interval you choose.
• storage — saves your settings and reading position locally.
• scripting — draws the reading panel on the page you're viewing when a reminder fires.
• idle — holds a reminder while your computer is idle or locked, so it doesn't fire while you're away.
• api.alquran.cloud / cdn.islamic.network — the two services the extension fetches Qur'an text and audio from.
• <all_urls> (optional) — only used to draw the reading panel directly on the page you're currently viewing. This permission is optional; if you decline it, the extension opens the same panel in its own small window instead. No page content is ever read, regardless.

How to delete your data

Remove the extension from Chrome. That deletes every setting and cached page immediately — there is nothing left on any server to delete, because nothing was ever sent to one.

Changes to this policy

If what the extension stores or sends ever changes, this page will be updated to match before that version is published, and the "last updated" date above will change.
